Now more than ever we recognize the importance of supporting students’ social and emotional development. Community Education Youth Programs deliver a wide range of high-quality enrichment learning opportunities during out of school time (afterschool, release days, and summer). Community Education offerings support youth to develop strong peer relationships and foster new skills, through our intentional program design that fosters cultural identity, youth voice and leadership.

Our programs serve youth in grades K-12 at Minneapolis Public School locations across the city as well as online to ensure all students have access to high quality programs.

Sliding Scale Model

In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, we are moving to a sliding scale model for program fees so our afterschool programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the average cost of offering a class as well as discounted options and options that help us cover our administrative costs. 

Families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay or select the no-cost option. We have always offered partial and full scholarships upon request. By more clearly articulating our lower cost options, we have removed the barrier that some may have felt in making these requests. When families participate as they are able, in all levels of our sliding scale, the whole program becomes self-sustaining.
